Call for Papers, Proposals & Grants

  • Application Deadline: November 12, 2023

    Organizers: International Growth Centre- IGC

The IGC’s research focuses on sustainable growth policies in developing countries. Sustainable growth refers to countries developing their potential in an inclusive way that improves social, environmental, and economic well-being for all, including for future generations.

It is increasingly clear that creating jobs, raising incomes and reducing poverty must go hand in hand with efforts to increase resilience to climate shocks and to accelerate the decarbonization of energy supply and production to ensure the well-being of current and future generations.

We are interested in pilots, exploratory research, and full projects that address key growth challenges connected to one of our four themes, with a particular interest in those related to building resilience and promoting sustainable growth.

    Prize: Research grants, 20,000 - 125,000 pounds

The papers have to be written in English.

Papers presented in the last edition are not eligible.

    How is the selection done?

As the IRVAPP-Advanced School concerns mainly methodological issues, papers will be judged according to two criteria: i) their methodological soundness, as evaluated by the internal jury, ii) their innovative approach, both methodologically and in terms of the research question undertaken.

The applications will be evaluated by an internal jury and the decision on the winner of the prize will be announced by the 12th of January 2024.

    Benefits:

The Research Institute for the Evaluation of Public Policies (IRVAPP) at the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) will award a prize of 1000 EUR for the best paper in Policy Evaluation.

We invite you to become a member of our growing network and take part in shaping the future of economics scholarship among African Ph.D. students.

EconNect Africa is a network committed to the advancement and support of African scholars pursuing doctoral degrees in economics and related fields. Recognizing the acute underrepresentation of African scholars in economics Ph.D. programs across North America—a figure less than 4% out of international degree receivers in the United States as reported by the Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) 2021—the association aims to function as an indispensable network for students from the African continent.

Our organizational infrastructure aims to fill the void of a support mechanism and intellectual community by creating a supportive network for African Ph.D. students in economics and related fields, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and resource-sharing. We aim to empower young African scholars and amplify their voices, especially on policies related to Africa, by providing them with the necessary tools, networks, and opportunities to excel academically, professionally, and as leaders in their respective fields.
